On SCANPUB’s Winter Symposium January 25th, Ferruh Yılmaz (Tulane University) gave a lecture – “How the Workers Became Muslims” on the portrayal and understanding of Danish immigrant understanding and its change over the last 40 years. Using his own experience as a point of departure Yılmaz discusses the transition in immigrant understanding “from worker to muslim”, the Danish society’s forced focus on the impact of immigration and how immigration can change culture through changing the ways in which we talk about immigration.
